Dark blue green foliage producing thick white stems 20-25cm, ideal for Autumn harvesting from October to February. Extremely hardy down to -15 degrees celcius.
Sow early sowings under glass into pots or trays and cover the seed with a sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Sow outdoor sowings thinly, 1.5cm (1/2″) deep in drills 30cm (12″) apart in soil raked to a fine tilth. Water regularly, especially in dry periods.
WHAT TO DO NEXT
Transplant early sowings into individual pots and grow on under glass until April, then harden off in a cold frame and plant out at 25-30cm (10-12″) apart and 45cm (18″) between rows. Once large enough carefully life outdoor sowings and transplant to the above spacings using a trowel or dibber, and water in.
If planting using a dibber, make a hole and drop plant into hole and water. Do not fill hole with soil.
