The delightful gem that is the Chilean Guava comes highly recommended, bearing attractive small evergreen glossy leaves with a bronze tinge when young. In May dainty, delicate shell pink bell-shaped flowers are borne above the mature light green foliage. Small, edible, sweet, dark red fruits form and ripen in late autumn adding further interest to this outstanding ornamental shrub. Ideal for borders or patio containers. ‘Kapow’ must be planted in a sunny sheltered border away from cold winds and given fleece protection in winter. Full height 1.5 mtrs is only achieved in the warmest parts of the UK. Good, well drained soil is a must.
